Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a married woman between 18 and 35 years old who has been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and are trying to get pregnant
  • You have been unable to conceive, either for the first time or after a previous pregnancy
  • Your PCOS diagnosis fits one of four specific patterns involving combinations of excess male hormones, irregular ovulation, and/or a particular appearance of the ovaries on ultrasound (confirm with trial site)
  • Your male partner has had a sperm test showing at least 15 million sperm per millilitre in at least one sample within the past year, with some sperm that are able to move
  • Both you and your partner are willing and able to have intercourse at times directed by the research team
  • You have at least one open, unblocked fallopian tube and a normal uterus, confirmed by a medical scan or procedure, OR you have had a successful pregnancy and delivery within the past 3 years
  • Neither you nor your partner has had a permanent sterilisation procedure (such as tubal ligation or vasectomy), even if it was later reversed

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have certain hormonal or medical conditions such as Cushing's syndrome, diabetes, thyroid disorders, high prolactin levels, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, or hormone-producing tumours
  • You have a history of seizures or unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • You have a suspected or confirmed history of cervical, uterine, or breast cancer
  • You are currently using certain medications, including blood thinners, anti-depressants, some diuretics, or any medication that affects your hormones or biochemistry
  • You have used hormonal treatments (such as contraceptive pills or ovulation-stimulating drugs) in the past 3 months — though a 2-month wash-out period may be possible for some medications (confirm with trial site)
  • Your current or a previous male partner has been diagnosed as infertile
