Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older at the time of signing the consent form.
  • You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months before the screening visit.
  • Your HbA1c (a blood test that measures average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months) is between 8.0% and 10.5%.
  • Your body mass index (BMI, a measure of body weight relative to height) is 25 or above.
  • You have been taking a stable dose of at least one approved diabetes medication for at least 90 days before screening — this could include metformin, sulfonylureas, SGLT2 inhibitors, or DPP-4 inhibitors (confirm with trial site for exact dose requirements).
  • If you are currently taking a DPP-4 inhibitor medication for diabetes, you must be willing to stop taking it when you formally join the trial (no gradual reduction period required).

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have taken any diabetes or weight-loss medications in the past 90 days that are not listed in the inclusion criteria above (though short-term insulin use for up to 14 days before screening may be acceptable).
  • You have significant kidney disease, specifically a kidney function score (eGFR) below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².
  • You have uncontrolled or unstable diabetes-related eye problems affecting the retina or central vision, confirmed by an eye examination within 90 days before or shortly after screening.
