Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been assessed as generally healthy enough for surgery, with none, mild, or moderate pre-existing health conditions (confirm with trial site)
  • You are scheduled for upfront surgery to remove as much cancer as possible for suspected advanced-stage ovarian cancer (stage III or IV)
  • You are able and willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a medical reason why an epidural (an injection for pain relief near the spine) would not be safe for you
  • You have a known allergy to any of the medicines used in this trial, including Ropivacaine or Sufentanil (types of pain relief and anaesthetic drugs)
  • You have uncontrolled kidney, liver, or heart failure, or uncontrolled heart disease affecting blood supply to the heart
  • You have difficulties with speaking, understanding language, or thinking and memory
  • Your surgeon decides during the operation that the cancer removal surgery cannot go ahead due to how far the cancer has spread
