Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with stage I, II, or III lung cancer (non-small cell type), breast cancer, or ovarian cancer — stage IV does not qualify.
  • You are planning to start chemotherapy using a taxane-based drug (such as docetaxel or paclitaxel) within 14 days of signing up for the trial, as part of one of the specific treatment plans approved for this study.
  • You may also be taking part in another clinical trial at the same time, as long as your chemotherapy regimen is one of the ones approved for this study.
  • You have never previously received certain types of chemotherapy, including taxanes (paclitaxel or docetaxel), platinum drugs (such as cisplatin or carboplatin), vinca alkaloids (such as vincristine), or bortezomib.
  • You are able to fill out health questionnaires in English or Spanish, and are willing to complete them at all required appointments — including one before you join the trial.
  • You already have nerve damage (neuropathy), including from conditions like diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's disease — this does not stop you from joining.
  • You are willing to provide required biological samples (such as blood or tissue) for research purposes.
  • You have been given the chance to provide additional optional samples for future research, and have given your answer (either yes or no).
  • You have been told about the research nature of this study and have signed a consent form agreeing to take part.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have stage IV (advanced/spread) lung, breast, or ovarian cancer.
  • You have previously received chemotherapy with taxanes, platinum drugs, vinca alkaloids, or bortezomib before joining the trial.
  • You are not planning to use one of the specific chemotherapy regimens approved for this study.
  • You are unable or unwilling to complete the required health questionnaires in English or Spanish.
  • You are not willing to provide the required biological samples for research (confirm with trial site).
  • Your treatment hospital does not have current approval from its ethics/review board to run this study (confirm with trial site).
