Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

You are currently using a mechanical ventilator (a breathing machine) as part of your medical care, and it has been working well for you
You weigh more than 5 kilograms (about 11 pounds)
You have any medical condition that requires you to use a breathing machine through a nose/face mask, mouthpiece, or a tube in your throat (tracheostomy)
You have been using a breathing machine for more than 1 month

Who may not be able to join:

You are currently using a breathing tube inserted through your mouth or nose into your airway (called an endotracheal tube)
You are currently experiencing sudden, severe breathing failure (acute respiratory failure)
You have dangerously low blood pressure that is not responding to medications to help your heart
You have uncontrolled heart problems, such as blocked blood flow to the heart or an irregular heartbeat
You have cancer that has spread to other parts of your body or a terminal cancer diagnosis
You or a family member currently works for a company that makes breathing or respiratory products
You (or your legal decision-maker, if applicable) are unable to give written agreement to take part in the study
The lead doctor running the trial decides for any reason that taking part would not be appropriate for you (confirm with trial site)
