Back to Ovarian Cancer

NCT02828618

NCT02828618
Active, Not Recruiting Not Applicable

Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been newly diagnosed with a type of ovarian cancer (invasive epithelial ovarian cancer) that has spread to an advanced stage (stage IIIB–IV), and if stage IV, the spread must be in a location that can be surgically removed
  • You are a woman aged 18 or older
  • You have signed a form confirming you agree to take part in the trial
  • You are in good general health and able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation
  • You are considered a low-to-moderate risk patient for surgery (confirm with trial site)
  • Your blood test results (CA 125 and CEA markers) meet certain levels, or if they do not, you have had additional stomach and bowel examinations to rule out cancer starting in the digestive system
  • An experienced surgeon has reviewed your case and believes the surgery can be performed and the tumour can potentially be fully removed
  • Your blood cell counts are at healthy enough levels (enough white blood cells and platelets), without the help of special supportive medications
  • Your kidneys are working well enough, based on a blood test
  • Your liver is working well enough, based on blood tests measuring liver enzymes and function
  • You have little or no nerve damage (such as numbness or weakness) (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your ovarian cancer is not of the epithelial type, or is classed as a "borderline" tumour
  • You have had another type of cancer in the last 5 years (with some specific exceptions for certain early-stage cancers — confirm with trial site)
  • Your ovarian cancer has come back after previous treatment
  • You have already had chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, or radiation therapy to the abdomen or pelvis
  • Scans show cancer has spread to the lungs, liver, or certain lymph nodes in the chest in a way that cannot be surgically removed
  • You have significant problems with blood clotting, including those caused by medications
  • You have a medical condition, age-related concern, or health status that the trial doctor believes would make it unsafe or unsuitable to take part
  • You are pregnant
  • You have dementia or a significant mental health condition that would prevent you from understanding and agreeing to take part
  • There is any reason that would make it difficult for you to attend regular follow-up appointments

Important: Always verify eligibility with the trial site directly before applying.
