Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
  • Your blood sugar is not well controlled through diet, exercise, and a medication called ipragliflozin alone
  • Your HbA1c (a blood test that shows your average blood sugar over the past few months) is between 7.0% and 10.0% before the trial starts

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a history of type 1 diabetes or have previously had a dangerous condition called ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the body produces too many acids)
  • You have taken certain diabetes medications recently — specifically insulin or thiazolidinediones (a type of diabetes pill) within the past 12 weeks, or a medication called sitagliptin within the past 8 weeks
  • You currently have an active urinary tract infection (such as pain when urinating) or a genital infection that is causing you noticeable symptoms
