Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 16 and 75 years old (inclusive)
  • Your background reflects the mix of people who live in the local area
  • You are able to understand the trial information and give your own consent to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are younger than 16 or older than 75 years old
  • You have had weight loss surgery (such as a gastric band or bypass)
  • You have lost more than 10% of your body weight in the last year (for example, if you weigh 80kg, this would mean losing more than 8kg)
  • You have a known heart or blood vessel condition, such as a previous heart attack, stroke, chest pain (angina), or heart failure
  • You have a condition called glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome (confirm with trial site)
  • You have an allergy to corn (maize)
  • You are currently taking medication to lower your blood sugar levels
  • You are currently taking steroid tablets or steroid treatment given through a drip (IV)
  • You are currently taking a type of water tablet called a loop diuretic, such as furosemide or bumetanide
  • You are not able to understand the trial information or give your own consent to take part
