Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are expected to stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) for more than 48 hours
  • You are expected to need a breathing machine (ventilator) for more than 24 hours
  • You have a close family member or relative who is over 18 years old
  • Both you and your close relative can speak and understand Danish
  • It is expected that you will be able to give your agreement to take part in the study at a later point

Note: Patients and their close relatives are enrolled in this study together as a pair.

Who may not be able to join:

  • Patients who stay in the ICU for less than 48 hours
  • Patients who need a breathing machine for less than 24 hours
  • Patients who are not able to give their agreement to take part in the study, or who pass away while in the ICU (in these cases, both the patient and their relative would be excluded from the study)
