Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (a specific type called ALK-positive) that is either at a late local stage and cannot be treated with combined therapies, or has spread to other parts of the body (stage IV).
  • You may have previously been treated with a drug called crizotinib (but no other ALK-targeting drugs).
  • You may have previously received chemotherapy, biological treatments, or other experimental treatments (as long as no other ALK-targeting drugs were used).
  • You are generally able to care for yourself and carry out daily activities, even if you cannot do heavy physical work (this is measured on a standard scale of 0–2).

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have previously been treated with any ALK-targeting drug other than crizotinib.
  • You have a history of cancer spreading to the membranes surrounding the brain or spinal cord.
  • You have been diagnosed with or treated for another type of cancer within the past 3 years (other than the ALK-positive lung cancer this trial focuses on).
  • You have significant heart problems or have had a serious cardiac event in the past 6 months.
  • You have a history of serious scarring or inflammation of the lung tissue, including severe lung damage caused by radiation therapy.
  • You have other serious ongoing or long-term medical conditions (confirm with trial site).
  • You are currently taking warfarin (Coumadin) or similar blood-thinning medications.
