Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are older than 55 years of age
- You have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (a type of progressive memory and thinking condition) according to recognised medical guidelines
- Your Alzheimer's diagnosis has been confirmed for at least one year
- You have severe dementia, shown by a score of 15 or below on a standard memory and thinking test called the MMSE
- You have been taking one of these Alzheimer's medications — donepezil, galantamine, or rivastigmine — for at least 2 years, and your dose has not changed for at least 3 months before joining the trial
- If you take any regular medication for mood, anxiety, or behaviour (such as antidepressants or antipsychotics), your dose must have been stable for at least 1 month before joining the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You have dementia caused by something other than Alzheimer's disease
- You have significant difficulty swallowing or taking tablets or capsules by mouth
- You have a serious medical condition that is not well controlled and could affect your ability to take part in the study (confirm with trial site)
