Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
For the person with memory/thinking concerns (MCI participant):
- You are age 60 or older
- You score 80 or above on a standard memory and thinking test called the Modified Mini Mental State exam
- You have been diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI — early-stage memory or thinking difficulties)
- You are physically and mentally able to complete neuropsychological (thinking and memory) assessments
- You score between 1 and 9 on a depression questionnaire (PHQ-9), AND you experience at least one of these symptoms: persistent low mood or loss of interest/enjoyment in things you used to enjoy
For the support person (e.g. a family member or carer):
- You are age 18 or older
- You score 80 or above on the Modified Mini Mental State exam
- You have normal memory and thinking function
- You are physically and mentally able to complete thinking and memory assessments
- You score between 1 and 9 on a depression questionnaire (PHQ-9), AND you experience at least one of these symptoms: persistent low mood or loss of interest/enjoyment in things you used to enjoy
Who may not be able to join:
(These exclusions apply to both the person with MCI and the support person)
- You have had a major depressive episode or an anxiety disorder in the past year
- You are currently taking antidepressant medication
- You have a history of Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia
- You have had a problem with drug or alcohol use in the past 12 months
- You have been taking anti-anxiety medication more than 4 times per week over the past 4 weeks
