Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are aged 55 to 74 years old at the time they join the trial
  • People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are currently receiving treatment for cancer (except for certain common skin cancers)
  • People who have previously been diagnosed with cancer of the colon, rectum, lung, prostate (men), or ovary (women)
  • People who have had their entire colon surgically removed, one full lung removed, or (for men) the entire prostate removed
  • People who are already taking part in another cancer screening or cancer prevention trial
  • Men who have taken the medication Proscar, Propecia, or finasteride in the past 6 months
  • People who are unwilling or unable to sign the consent form
  • Men who have had more than one PSA blood test (a prostate-related blood test) in the past three years
  • People who have had a colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, or barium enema (bowel examination procedures) in the past three years
  • Women who had both ovaries surgically removed — though please note this exclusion rule changed over time, so eligibility may depend on when they would have enrolled (confirm with trial site)
