Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for at least 5 years.
  • You are currently being treated with diabetes pills (oral medication) to manage your blood sugar.
  • You attend regular monthly check-up appointments at the hospital.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently staying in hospital as an inpatient.
  • You have had a serious diabetes-related emergency, such as diabetic ketoacidosis or a hyperosmolar coma, in the past 3 months.
  • You have had an infection that required antibiotic treatment in the past 3 weeks.
  • You have antibodies against insulin, an autoimmune disease, or are taking medicines that suppress your immune system.
  • You have a viral infection such as hepatitis B, or you have a blood disorder, kidney disease, or liver disease.
  • You are pregnant.
