Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are being checked to see if you might have lung cancer, and your doctor has recommended a bronchoscopy (a procedure to look inside your airways)
  • You are scheduled to have a bronchoscopy
  • You are 21 years of age or older
  • You meet your local hospital's standard requirements for having a diagnostic bronchoscopy
  • You are a current or former cigarette smoker, meaning you have smoked more than 100 cigarettes in your lifetime

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your lung specialist has decided that a bronchoscopy is not appropriate for you
  • You are unable to give consent to take part in the study or are unable to follow the study's requirements
  • You have already been diagnosed with primary lung cancer (cancer that started in the lungs)
  • Just before your bronchoscopy, you have been on a breathing machine (ventilator) continuously for 24 hours or more
