Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been told you have "impaired glucose tolerance" (a condition where blood sugar is higher than normal but not yet diabetes) and are not taking any diabetes medication, OR you have Type 2 diabetes and are being treated with one or more specific diabetes medications (such as metformin alone, metformin combined with other tablets, or at least two daily insulin injections with or without metformin).
  • Your HbA1c blood sugar level (a measure of average blood sugar over recent months) is between 6.5% and 8% at your screening appointment — note this does not apply if you have impaired glucose tolerance rather than diabetes.
  • You are between 18 and 74 years old (inclusive), of any sex.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have Type 1 diabetes, or your diabetes was caused by a pancreas injury or another underlying condition.
  • You have, or have had, an active lung disease such as tuberculosis or a fungal lung infection (confirm with trial site for the full definition used).
  • You currently have, or are suspected of having, an active or returning bacterial, fungal, or viral infection at the time of joining the trial.
