Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be 18 years of age or older
- You must have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes
- You must have moderately reduced kidney function
- You must either be taking no diabetes medications, or be on up to 2 diabetes medications at a steady dose for more than 1 month before the screening visit
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI, a measure of body weight relative to height) must be between 25 and 35
Who may not be able to join:
- You have ever taken a type of diabetes medication called a thiazolidinedione (such as pioglitazone or rosiglitazone)
- You currently use or have previously used insulin to manage your blood sugar
- You have taken medications called fibrates (a type of cholesterol-lowering drug) within the 3 months before the screening visit
- You have a history of kidney disease that was caused by something other than your diabetes
