NCT00686959
Completed Phase 3 🇦🇺 Australian site

Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You must have a specific type of lung cancer (non-squamous, non-small cell lung cancer) that is at Stage IIIA or Stage IIIB.
  • Your cancer must be measurable using scans, such as a CT scan.
  • You must be able to take care of yourself, move around, and do light activities like housework or office work.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You must not have lost more than 10% of your body weight in the past 3 months.
  • Women must not be able to become pregnant (either naturally or through use of contraception), and men must either be unable to father children or use contraception.
  • Your blood, kidney, liver, and lung function test results must be at an acceptable level.
  • If you have Stage IIIB lung cancer with swollen lymph nodes just above the collarbone (but not in the neck area), you may still be eligible — the trial site can confirm this based on your specific scan results (confirm with trial site).

Who may not be able to join:

  • You cannot join if you have other serious uncontrolled health conditions, such as an active infection, an unstable heart condition, or an uncontrolled mental health illness.
  • You cannot join if you are unable to take vitamins (including vitamin B12 injections) or a steroid medication taken by mouth.
  • You cannot join if you have had a heart attack or certain heart problems in the past 6 months.
  • You cannot join if you have taken part in another clinical drug trial in the last 30 days.
  • You cannot join if you take more than 1.3 grams of aspirin daily or take anti-inflammatory pain medicines (such as ibuprofen) and are unable to stop taking them.
  • You cannot join if your cancer is the type that is usually treated with surgery (such as Pancoast or superior sulcus tumors).
  • You cannot join if you have previously had radiation treatment to the chest area; however, radiation to other parts of the body may be acceptable if it was completed at least 30 days before the trial and you have fully recovered (confirm with trial site).
  • You cannot join if your planned radiation treatment would expose more than 35% of your total lung volume to a high dose of radiation (confirm with trial site).
  • You cannot join if you have had another type of cancer requiring treatment in the past 5 years, though some exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis; certain treated skin cancers or very early-stage cancers may be allowed (confirm with trial site).
  • You cannot join if your lung cancer has come back after surgery, or if you have a second new lung cancer.
