Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), confirmed by an ultrasound showing at least one ovary with the typical cyst pattern, according to standard Rotterdam guidelines
- You also have at least one of these two symptoms: irregular or absent periods (cycles lasting 35 days or longer over the past year), OR visible signs of excess male hormones such as unwanted hair growth (hirsutism) or acne
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a heart or blood vessel (cardiovascular) disease
- You have diabetes
- You have another hormone-related condition, such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a tumour that produces male hormones, or Cushing's syndrome (confirm with trial site if unsure)
- You have taken estrogen or progesterone-based treatments (such as the contraceptive pill or hormone therapy) in the last 3 months
- You have been breastfeeding within the last 6 months
- You have taken any anti-androgen medication (medicines that reduce male hormone levels) in the last 3 months

Primary endpoints
To measure if physical exercise and electro-acupuncture restores endocrine, neuroendocrine, metabolic and immunological disturbances related to sympathetic nerve activity as well as psychological distress and improve quality of life in women with PCOS.
