Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with primary peritoneal carcinoma, epithelial ovarian cancer, or fallopian tube cancer that has come back or stopped responding to 1 or 2 previous treatments
  • Your cancer can be measured or detected through scans or tests
  • You are able to carry out some daily activities (your general health and activity level falls within an acceptable range, as assessed by your doctor)
  • It has been at least 2 weeks since any major surgery, and you have recovered from it
  • It has been at least 2 weeks since any radiation treatment, and you have recovered from it
  • Your blood counts are at healthy enough levels — including white blood cells, platelets, and red blood cells (hemoglobin)
  • Your liver and kidney function tests are within acceptable ranges

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your ovarian tumor is a low-grade or "borderline" type (low malignant potential)
  • You have previously been treated with a drug called topotecan
  • You currently have an active infection being treated with antibiotic, antifungal, or antiviral medicines taken by mouth or by drip within the last 72 hours before starting chemotherapy
  • You have had another type of cancer in the last 5 years, unless it was a certain type of skin cancer or early-stage cervical cancer that was fully removed by surgery
  • You have a history of serious heart problems, such as heart failure or disease of the heart muscle
  • You have or have had certain blood or bone marrow conditions, such as myelodysplastic syndrome or certain types of leukemia (confirm with trial site)
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are able to become pregnant and are not willing to use adequate contraception during the trial
  • You have a psychiatric condition, addiction, or other disorder that would make it difficult to understand and follow the study requirements or give informed consent
  • You are currently taking part in another clinical trial, or it has been fewer than 30 days since you finished another trial involving an experimental drug or device
