Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are receiving a specific type of stem cell transplant from a donor (called a "non-myeloablative allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation") (confirm with trial site)
- You are able to start preventive antifungal treatment within 48 hours of beginning your transplant preparation chemotherapy, and before starting a medication called cyclosporine
- Your liver test results are within an acceptable range (no more than 5 times the upper limit of normal for bilirubin, AST, ALT, and alkaline phosphatase)
- You are able to swallow pills or oral medication
- You have suitable veins for blood draws or intravenous access
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have a negative pregnancy test
- If you are capable of having children, you agree to use effective barrier contraception (such as condoms) during the study and for 4 weeks after (or 12 weeks after if you are male)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have already been diagnosed with a serious, deep fungal infection (based on specific medical criteria)
- You have previously had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to a group of antifungal medicines called azoles
- You are currently taking certain medications that can affect heart rhythm (such as terfenadine, cisapride, quinidine, pimozide, or dofetilide)
- You are currently taking a medication called rifampin
- You are currently using hormonal contraceptives (such as the pill, patch, or hormonal IUD)
- You are currently taking any other antifungal treatments, including amphotericin B, other azole or triazole antifungals, or echinocandins (topical/skin antifungals are generally allowed)
- You have taken another non-approved investigational drug within the last 2 weeks
- You have another medical condition that may put you at unacceptable risk during the study
