Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread or come back and cannot be removed by surgery, and you have tried at least one but no more than two previous treatments for advanced disease, or your cancer came back within 6 months of finishing chemotherapy after surgery
- Your cancer tissue has tested positive for a specific protein marker called "Lewis-y antigen" on a lab test
- Your cancer can be measured or tracked through a physical exam, scans, a bone scan showing bone spread, or fluid buildup around the lungs
- You are reasonably active and able to care for yourself (confirm with trial site for exact fitness level required), with a life expectancy of at least 3 months
- It has been at least 4 weeks since your last cancer treatment (chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or radiation)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously been treated with a chemotherapy drug called docetaxel (Taxotere)
- You have received a high cumulative dose of a type of chemotherapy called anthracyclines (confirm with trial site for exact amount)
- You have had more than one type of cancer, with some exceptions such as certain skin cancers, early-stage cervical cancer, localised prostate cancer, or a fully treated early-stage cancer with no recurrence for over 3 years
- You have a serious uncontrolled non-cancer illness, such as heart failure, severe bleeding, kidney failure, or liver failure
- You have brain metastases (cancer spread to the brain) that are causing symptoms and are not well controlled
- You have significant nerve damage or pain in your hands or feet (peripheral neuropathy)
- You are currently receiving other cancer treatments or experimental treatments, except for a small amount of radiation to a single bone affected by cancer
- You have an active infection, including HIV, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a serious underlying health condition that could prevent you from safely receiving treatment, or you have previously had an allergic reaction to certain protein-based medicines
- You have a condition affecting your memory or thinking that would prevent you from fully understanding and agreeing to take part in the trial
- You have uncontrolled peptic ulcer disease (stomach ulcers)
