Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • The patient must have cystic fibrosis and not yet have gone through puberty
  • The patient must be able to perform breathing tests (lung function tests)
  • The patient must be significantly below the normal height and/or weight for their age and sex (less than 25% of the normal range)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose lungs are colonized with a specific type of bacteria called Burkholderia cepacia
  • People who need insulin or have ever needed insulin
  • People with a blood or bone marrow disease
  • People with liver disease
  • People with kidney disease
  • People who have diabetes or have had diabetes in the past
