Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a confirmed fungal infection (proven by a lab culture), specifically chronic cavitary histoplasmosis, histoplasmosis that has spread outside the lungs (such as affecting mucous membranes), blastomycosis, or sporotrichosis
- Your lab culture still showed the fungal infection after your last round of treatment
- Your doctor has determined you need antifungal treatment with amphotericin B or ketoconazole
- It has been at least 1 month since you last received treatment for this same fungal infection
- You have received no more than a certain limited total amount of amphotericin B or ketoconazole in the past (confirm with trial site for exact amounts)
- Your liver function test results are within an acceptable range (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a fungal infection affecting the membranes around your brain or spinal cord (fungal meningitis)
- You have any disease affecting your brain or central nervous system
- Your fungal infection is immediately life-threatening
- You are currently taking medications that suppress your immune system, such as corticosteroids, azathioprine, or chemotherapy-type drugs
- You have HIV/AIDS
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- You are able to have children but are not using effective birth control
