Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a brain tumor that has been confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy) and it has come back or stopped responding to treatment — specific types include glioblastoma multiforme, anaplastic astrocytoma, gliosarcoma, anaplastic oligodendroglioma, or mixed anaplastic glioma
- You have a brainstem tumor that has clearly continued to grow after initial treatment
- Your disease can be measured on scans
- You have had previous radiation therapy or surgery (these are allowed)
- It has been at least 4 weeks since your last chemotherapy treatment (or at least 6 weeks if that treatment included certain drugs called nitrosoureas or mitomycin)
- You are well enough to carry out most daily activities (based on standard doctor-assessed fitness scales)
- Your blood cell counts are at healthy enough levels — specifically, your white blood cells, platelets, and other markers are within required ranges
- Your liver and kidney function tests are within acceptable limits
- If you have a known lung condition, your lungs must still have a minimum level of breathing capacity (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another active cancer at the same time
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are able to become pregnant but are unwilling to use effective birth control during the trial
- Your pregnancy test result is positive
