Who may be able to join
Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (a specific type of muscle disease affecting the face, shoulders, and limbs)
- You have weakness in the muscles of your face, such as around your eyes, forehead, or mouth
- You have weakness in the muscles around your shoulder blades or in your foot/ankle that helps lift your foot
- You have a certain level of arm weakness as measured by a standard scale (confirm with trial site)
- You are between 18 and 80 years old
- You are able to walk
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another muscle or nerve disease that looks similar to facioscapulohumeral dystrophy, such as certain eyelid, eye movement, or muscle problems (confirm with trial site)
- You have had long-term use of steroid tablets (more than 1 year total)
- You have used steroid medicines in the last 3 months
- You are currently taking medicines that suppress the immune system
- You are currently taking certain medicines including stimulants, antidepressants, or beta-blockers (a type of heart/blood pressure medicine)
- You are currently scheduled for or recovering from surgery
- You have heart disease, high blood pressure, or blocked heart arteries
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have another serious medical or mental health condition that is not well controlled
