Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) based on medical history, brain scans (MRI), and blood or urine tests
• You are showing signs that the brain-affecting form of ALD is getting worse quickly, with 2 or more of the following happening in the past year: significant decline in school performance, significant loss of thinking or memory ability (with an IQ of 75 or below), worsening ability to understand spoken words, worsening vision, worsening handwriting, increasing difficulty walking, worsening speech or vocabulary, or growing weakness in one or more limbs
• Your MRI brain scan shows changes typical of cerebral ALD, including signs of breakdown of the brain's protective barrier (seen using a special dye called gadolinium) and signs of inflammation in the brain's white matter
• You are not a candidate for bone marrow transplantation
• You are not in a vegetative state (you are still aware and responsive)
• You are currently taking a treatment called Lorenzo's Oil (a combination of glyceryl trierucate and glyceryl trioleate)
• You are using effective contraception (birth control)

Who may not be able to join:

• You are a candidate for bone marrow transplantation
• You are in a vegetative state (no awareness or responsiveness)
• You are not taking Lorenzo's Oil as part of your current treatment
• You are not using effective contraception
