Who may be able to join

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with primary ovarian cancer that has been confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy)
  • Your cancer is Stage III, meaning more than 1 cm of cancer remained in the abdomen after surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible
  • Your surgery involved open abdominal surgery (keyhole/laparoscopic surgery alone is not enough to qualify)
  • Your cancer is one of these specific types: serous adenocarcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma, mucinous adenocarcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma, clear cell adenocarcinoma, mixed epithelial carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, endometrioid tumor, adenocarcinoma NOS, or malignant Brenner's tumor
  • You are well enough to carry out light activity or normal daily tasks (your doctor will assess this)
  • Your blood cell counts are at healthy enough levels (your doctor will check your white blood cells, platelets, and other counts)
  • Your liver is functioning within an acceptable range (confirmed by blood tests)
  • Your kidneys are functioning within an acceptable range (confirmed by a blood test)
  • Your staging surgery took place no more than 6 weeks ago
  • You are any age

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your ovarian cancer has not been confirmed by tissue testing, or it cannot be clearly confirmed as starting in the ovary
  • Your cancer is classified as "borderline," grade 0, or described as "probably malignant" rather than confirmed cancer
  • You have a history of heart failure or have had a heart attack within the last 6 months
  • You currently have unstable chest pain (unstable angina)
  • You have a serious active infection or blood poisoning (septicemia)
  • You have active hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • You have severe bleeding in your digestive system
  • You have had another cancer within the last 5 years (except for certain common skin cancers)
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are able to become pregnant but are not using effective contraception
  • You have had chemotherapy before
  • You have had radiation therapy before
